Reconditioning or Reprogramming Yourself to Succeed

After few days of being away from here due to some other engagements I ventured into, I decided to write and post this article to help those who are still ignorant of it, to enable them start taking conscious steps on how to recondition or reprogram their minds to succeed. Self reconditioning or reprogramming on layman understanding simply means, to service readjust, and recalibrate equipment or instruments to bring them to near-new or original operational level. Reconditioned goods are of later model and usually in better condition than refurbished goods.

But in psychology or metaphysics, we understand that the human brain is prone to negativity, and it’s also flexible, which is why we can reprogram or recondition it to be happy and successful by taking conscious actions daily to focus on what we want from life. There are certain kinds of key experience that address main issues in reprogramming or reconditioning self. For example, experience of relaxation, calming, or feeling protected, strong and resourceful, by reconditioning ourselves consciously we can be able to keep our body system self to help us figure out how to accomplish our goals. And having internalized this process again and again through sense of calmness and mediation, we’re going to be more able to face situations at work or life generally with openness without getting so rattled by them, or without being locked into the reactive mode of our brain.

Are you living the life you have always wanted to live? Or have you settled in the status qou? Have you ever looked at other people and wondered why are they successful than others? Have you being seeing yourself moving in circles and never taken any bold steps to improve your life? How often do you see yourself feeling haplessness about your life situations because you thought and believed you don’t have power over them? Are you still thinking that some people have the midas touch, every opportunity that comes their way they can possibly turn it to gold? Some might even say it’s pure luck while others believe that it’s because their upbringings or connections with other. But we still see those who started from scratch on their own or little help from others and still became successful years of hard work and dedications.   

Most of us have a vague idea of what we think we deserve and can have in our lives to live happily. But whenever we couldn’t meet up our hopes and dreams of living or having a great lifestyle we think we deserve, we often become frustrated and get upsets on ourselves and others. Why is this happening to us? We wonder. And such situations or discontent can become so powerful and force us to make some personal changes in our consciousness. But discontent is a double-edge sword. Many of us end up turning our frustrations and upsets against ourselves, sabotaging any potential success we might have accomplished if our mind is stable or in a conscious state. We start thinking that we deserve better, and we may work a little harder for a few days, but rather than take action and strive for a lasting change, we drop right back down to where we think we should be, most especially, in our careers, our finances, our relationships, our health, and our general sense of well-being.

Whether you realized it or not, the negative experiences you have lived through often influence your decisions. Your brain learns a lot from difficult situations and painful memories, and these experiences get sealed into your brain influences your daily decisions making. Your brain naturally wants to do whatever it can to protect you from being hurt by avoiding a recurrence of the negative experience. On the other hand, by continually focusing on the negativity can hinder our ability to find positives reasons to live a happy life.

Success is based on recognizing and going after opportunities as they present themselves to us and that often requires our ability to have the strong inner fortitude take chance and navigate difficulties during the process. Once we’re positive about life, the better chances of finding lasting success and happiness in all we do. All it takes is some self reprogramming or reconditioning to rewire your brain towards success. 

Most often, you may be involved in situations where you know what you should be doing, but you’re having a tough time getting yourself to do it. Or perhaps you’re able to get started on a task, but you just can’t seem to maintain the momentum to see it through the end. If such problems continue for too long, you’re bound to start to see some bad effects on your overall confidence level to keep going. You may begin thinking you have a motivation problems, as if maybe you just don’t want to succeed badly enough.

One solution to this problem is self reconditioning or reprogramming, which comes in two primary forms: thought conditioning and behavioral conditioning. The thought conditioning focuses on controlling your thinking process and what you do with your thoughts. This is a cognitive model of success, by relying on the assumption that if you think the right thoughts, you will take the right actions, and thereby the rights actions will get the results you desired. For example, Such thoughts conditioning includes, speaking or reading positive affirmations daily, visualizing for a positive outcome in all you do, vocabulary transformation( i.e choosing positive words to describe your situations and opposed the negative words). And many situations, thought conditioning is very effective, particularly when problematic thoughts are the root of the problem, such as a negative attitude causing you to take advantage of others in all your dealings with them.

On the other hand, behavioral conditioning comes from a behavioral model of success we learned from successful people, that means doing or following the steps of those we found to be successful in their chosen careers. This model assumes that if you take the correct actions, you will achieve the results you want, regardless of what your thoughts are. Behavioral conditioning focuses on forming new habits of action with little concern for what you think. Many behaviorists believe that if you take the right actions, the right thoughts will follow anyway. Examples of behavioral conditioning includes, setting your alarm clock to wake you up each morning, giving yourself a tangible reward for working an extra couple of hours, focusing of your goals till completion, learning methods on how to use less time and effort to achieve more daily, or punishing your child for misbehaving.

I have used both forms of conditioning with great success and I’m confident enough to share the outcomes for others to learn from it. During my days in the university, I used mostly used thought conditioning to get myself focused with studies and during exams period. Today, however, take I advantages of behavioral conditioning because I have a lot of people I’m looking up. Probably my mentors and those who I admires their lifestyles, because learning about what they do and how they are doing it would enhance my motivations and also give me some clue on how to figured it out on my own. For me, I found the behavioral conditioning is more effective and faster. One of the major problems with thought conditioning is that if you fail to the take the right actions quickly, then your behavior can de-condition the very thoughts you’re trying to adopt. For example, if you’re trying to attract a mate in your life, and you focus on thinking you’re in love already and do some daily affirmations to that effect, but you keep treating ladies badly or find it difficult to open a conversations with a lady in the meantime, then you’re sending mixed messages to your subconscious mind, and you will most likely be un-attracted to ladies. Your continued behavior is an affirmation too.

But if you can manage to physically stop abusing ladies or even start seeing them as people you can have normal conversation with, that behavior will tend to induce thoughts of being a good match for good ladies. Behavioral conditioning works best when you merely changing your behavior regardless of how you think, is enough to guarantee a positive result. For example you stop making impulse purchases; you will save money, regardless of what you think about it. When you get yourself to take the right actions, even when you aren’t sure or initially motivated to do so, you will find that your motivations automatically grows.

The basic idea behind behavioral conditioning is control and substitution of our behaviors. Just figure out what actions you need to take to get the results you want or desires. Then condition yourself to take those actions. You’re always behaving some way already- so make sure your behavior will give you the results you want. If you aren’t behaving in a manner that’s in alignment with your goals, then take control of the situation and substitute the correct behavior for the bad ones. It’s your life, sometimes only can figure out how feels and how you behave most often. Choose a constructive behaviors that will congruent with your goals to enable you achieve them faster.

Here, the problem is that most people unknowingly condition behaviors that will hurt them in future or guarantee mediocre results. For example, when I started my teaching job in 2014, my monthly salary was N25, 000 and in the same school they are other people the owner of the school pays below N20, 000 monthly and those people have been there for years as a teachers. For them, collecting below N20, 000 per month is just OK for them and they are comfort with such amount of money, because they have conditioned their mind to live a low life. Even till today, most of them are still there in that school collecting same amount. But for me, I told myself, that would be the list amount of money I will collect as salary working others. Though I felt very bad accepting to collect such low amount, but I tried to forgive myself because I just needed to start up something after graduation from the university.

 After few months of receiving N25, 000 as a monthly salary, I started posting advertisement seeking to get a private teaching job as Mathematics and Chemistry teacher respectively, which turnout to be a good one. I made extra N12, 000 in private teaching job for teaching few students who are preparing to write their WAEC (West Africa Examination Council). In addition with my N25, 000 monthly salaries, my monthly income increased to N37, 000 then. But since then, I’ve strive to recondition and reprogram myself through the thought conditioning and behavioral conditioning which pushed me to raised my financial standard up to Six Figure income per year now.

When reconditioning or reprogramming your brain to succeed, you’ve to limit negative influence in your in your environment because they won’t allow you to make changes. They negative actions will have some effects in your subconscious mind. Your subconscious mind is constantly absorbing information from outside sources and using such information to form beliefs that shape how you think and behave. Negativity from the daily news, toxic people and social media can have huge or profound effect on your subconscious mind without you even knowing about it consciously. Reconditioning or reprogramming yourself to succeed is a perfect way to work below the surface and remove roadblocks that are holding you back to succeed.  

Look back your behavior over these past months and years. Have your results been congruent with your actions? If you spend the next month behaving totally differently, will it change your results or outcomes? Where do you see incongruencies between the results you want and your current habits of behavior? What changes would you like to make to get you what you want from life? Are you conscious of your thoughts and actions? How often do you take self behavioral test? Are your thoughts directing you to your goals achievement or moving you away from them? What’s your current level of thinking conditioning and behavioral conditioning? What does your perfect day look like? How do you want your big presentation at work to go? How exactly do you want your first date look like in your ideas of attracting a mate to your life? Pick something you are truly committed to make a reality and spend 20-45 minutes daily visualizing it as if it has already happened in your life. Your subconscious mind will absorb the feelings in your mind images as if they were really giving you the inner confidence you required or needed to make them come true in your life. True power comes from within, and reconditioning the subconscious mind reprograms you to succeed.

Your mind is the key to your success and you’ve the power to learn how to reprogram or recondition your subconscious to get what you want from life. If you want to live the life you desire, then, now it’s the time to decide for yourself, commit to the arts of living exceptional life and resolve to go for it. It’s not what we can do in life that makes the difference, but what we will do to get to our destinations. And it starts now. There is no better time to take control of your mind rather than now and set your sights on something better right now.
